Had a school project that I needed to take photos of farm animals for, and a friend suggested this place. The manager Sue was really friendly and informative, and was enthusiastic about my boyfriend and I coming to visit-- walking around and introducing us to various animals. The ones in the photo are Pancake and Marshmallow. Pancake is SOOO FUNNNNY!!!! He'll waddle over and then when he's sure you're going to pet him more than once, he'll fall over so you'll pet his big pig belly!
Marshmallow is more shy, but she seemed to really like my boyfriend, so I guess I have to keep an eye on her so she doesn't steal him away.
We also saw some really cool german shepherds and heard their rescue stories (really sad) and some miniature ponies who were also very friendly about coming up to be pet.
I'm looking forward to coming back and volunteering. Sue also said there's a couple who come once a month and have a little date-lunch while horse-watching; I'd like to try a picnic like that with my boyfriend.
Just to give a shout-out, they take donations in a little box (guarded by the pigs!,) and also online through paypal. Definitely support the great work this place does! Especially considering Frisco is having more and more land used for constructing businesses and houses. It won't be too much longer until it's rare to find places you can visit farm animals nearby (though I do love shouting hello's as I drive by the Llama farm in Plano ;D)Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Julie D.Fort Worth, TX15726197Apr 28, 2017
I want to team up with Becky and rescue the horses that vultures apply Vaseline to the horses ears, blind them and let the Bulls attack them to death because they no longer horse race.

Becky's Hope Horse Rescue is down a little seen driveway just off southwest-bound 121 between Coit and Independence. It is run by Sue Chapman, her son Joe Chapman, with several other amazing volunteers. They've put their heart and soul into this horse rescue for the past seventeen years, and have only recently in the past year and a half moved to Frisco to expand their land-holding for the horses.
As is the case with most animal rescues, there's never enough; never enough time, never enough money, never enough manpower. However this bunch of super heroes are a cheerful group, welcoming those who are willing to help. There is much available to do for a wide range of skills and experience levels-- everything from mucking stalls, spreading hay, socializing animals, grooming, and general handyman /woman upkeep. Plus it's better and cheaper than a gym membership! :)
They also take donations-- feed, medication, any used tack, building supplies, etcetera. They are also quite happy to have people come and sit and just animal watch. They've recently adopted some dogs who are in the process of being socialized, and among the horses, and pigs there's always something to watch, pet, and wonder at.
I highly recommend this to anyone who is burnt out on animal volunteering. They will take as little or as much as you are willing to give, and be so amazingly positive that you can't help but feel elevated.
This is also a really interesting activity outing for groups-- I've seen church groups come out to do farm upkeep, and girl scouts come to have meetings and pet the horses.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Joe E.Plano, TX73448Jun 17, 2016
Absolutely amazing place doing great things! My daughter has been volunteering there during the summers and throughout the year when she can and she loves it. As a parent and just a regular person I cannot say how great this place is.
