After the Races is a 501(c)3, nonprofit organization located close to Fair Hill in Maryland. Our specialty is rehabilitating retiring racehorses physically and behaviorally as they transition toward their next career. After the Races incorporated in January of 2011 and has now served more than 900 horses! We do our work in large part thanks to the support of a large network of volunteers, donors, and adopters.
ATR also seeks to better educate the community in regards to what racehorses have to offer new families and owners beyond racing. We also strive to work with and celebrate racing connections to have implemented exit plans for their horses and prioritize their aftercare.
While you can regularly see us at the Maryland Five Star event in Elkton in October, we are happy to schedule visits or demonstrations with educational groups and clubs in the area upon request. We especially like talking with kids and young people in an effort to cultivate more up and coming horse enthusiasts and professionals
