The Whole Horse Place is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in Port Orchard, Washington, dedicated to rescuing senior horses who have no other options except euthanasia and pairing them with youth and veterans to teach life skills, build confidence, and foster connection through hands-on care. Our all-volunteer programs focus on care, not riding, and give participants full responsibility for feeding, grooming, health monitoring, and basic veterinary support under supervision. The horses who come here have a final, permanent home; we do not sell or rehome them. We serve youth from diverse backgrounds, including those experiencing economic hardship, foster care, or homelessness, as well as veterans seeking a safe and peaceful place to connect. Through this work, we create meaningful experiences for both people and horses, while ensuring our rescued horses receive the love, care, and dignity they deserve for the rest of their lives.
